I dreamed my whole house was clean.

Housecleaning

Housecleaning – the necessary evil.

I’ve packed my bags, cleaned the floor,

Now watch me walking, walking out the door.

Eurythmics,  Would I lie to You?

It’s Spring time on the damp coast and inevitably, my mind briefly flits on the idea of spring cleaning the house.  And I do mean briefly.

It is a deranged mind that loves house cleaning.  To be perpetually obsessed about ridding the world of dust bunnies or banishing bathroom mold is a bit sick and twisted. Continue reading

A Mexican Moment

A Glimpse of the Mexican Sun

In the long dark of Winter, we need a bit of sunshine. A Mexican moment.

Although Wiarton Willy said spring will be early this year, it feels like it’s eons away.

So, here are some pictures from my Mexican trip.

It’s a sunny, warm, relaxing Mexican moment for you.

The End of a Marriage

This is the end, beautiful friend, the end.

The Doors

The End

So for my 23rd wedding anniversary, my husband gave me the gift of requesting a divorce.  He actually said, “separation”, but the outcome is the same. This was the end of my marriage.

This old grey mare will be not be going into my golden years, arm in arm with a husband, sharing all the joys and sorrows of the golden years.  Nope, I’ll be making the journey solo.

“I just don’t respect you”

Husband stated he no longer respected me, nor felt that our marriage was worth the effort of saving.  He was unhappy and the only thing he could think of doing to make himself happy was leaving me. Continue reading

I don't plan

New Year Resolutions

A New Year, New Resolutions

Making New Year resolutions is a bit of a double edged sword. On the one hand it can be the spark that you need to go out and achieve some goals to better your life. On the other hand it can create guilt and feelings of failure when you look back at the year past and realise you’ve not ticked off one thing on your list.

So How to Start?

So, how to create resolutions that inspire and not depress you? You can’t make them too airy fairy, like “I want to be a better person” because there’s nothing to achieve. How do you measure “better”? Continue reading

I don't iron. If I'm not wrinkle-free, why should my clothes be?

The Skin Deep Project

I was reading a book Beautiful Skin Begins Within by Dr. Martin Braun about how to keep skin beautiful and elastic before, during and after menopause.

While Dr. Martin Braun wrote the book, it is sponsored by Lorna Vanderhaeghe, who just happens to have a full line of vitamin supplements that will help with what the doctor suggests.

According to the plan, there are a number of things you need to do, besides adjusting your diet and exercise levels.  One is adding a number of supplements to your diet which are supposed to help your skin turn back time and appear dewy fresh and plump. Continue reading

Road Trip – La Conner, WA

Road Trip Time!

Destination:  La Conner, WA

Day 1

So after the big 51, I decided to get outta dodge.

But where to go? The possibilities were endless but, alas, the funds were not. So it had to be quick and cheap.  There was a trip to Palm Springs for $700 for 5 days but I didn’t really fancy frying in the desert by myself for 5 days.

In the end, it was an overnighter to La Conner, WA.  Why?  I’d never been there and it seemed like a nice quiet place to chill out. Continue reading

I Choose Me

The Necessity of Spa Days

Taking Care of Moi

Like a fine wine, I find that I too need a little tender care in a controlled environment to reach my full potential.

So I schedule a spa day.

This is a fairly new phenomenon for me, basically in the last decade. Prior to this time funding was always an issue. Now, however, I rationalize the expense citing that I spend a lot of time tending to others, now it’s time for others to tend to me. Continue reading

The Yurt

The Yurt Experience

Are you Experienced ? Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have. – Jimi Hendrix

Glamping in Paradise?

From the pictures it looked like my style of camping. Solid floor, soft bed WITH linen, table, chairs, standing room and bug screens.

So I drove up to Whistler to experience these “rustic” yurts for myself. They seemed ideally situated. Far away from the highway, on platforms on a side of a hill. Magnificent views. When I arrived at 4pm all was quiet except for the faint hum of traffic from the 99. I fancied I could even hear the babbling brook. Granted I had to scale a fair sized hill, albeit with stairs, to get to and from the biffy, but that was a minor consideration. At least the facilities had hot and cold water PLUS flush toilets. Life was good.

And then reality…. Continue reading
