The Best is yet to Come

Out of the tree of life I just picked me a plum
You came along and everything’s startin’ to hum
Still, it’s a real good bet, the best is yet to come

Where have I been?!?!

Between trying to organise my life, juniors, and my parents PLUS taking night school, I have been terribly remiss in posting.

BUT the dust is settling, my friends, and I’ve got lots of good reading coming your way: Continue reading

Time of the Essence

Patience – Virtue or Vice?

could use some patience, yeah
gotta have some patience, yeah
all it takes is patience,
just a little patience
is all you need

Guns and Roses, Patience

Patience has never been my strong suit.

Apparently patience can be learned.  Even though universe constantly puts me in situations that require patience, I’m loathe to learn it.

Or so the saying goes….

Dreams Road Sign

Dreams Road Sign

You ask me what’s my pleasure,

A movie or a measure.

I’ll have a cup of tea

And tell you of my dreamin’

Dreamin’ is free.

Blondie (Dreamin’)

When I think of all the dreams I’ve had over the years, I wonder why some came true, some didn’t and some didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted. Continue reading

Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday!

And what a glorious day it is.  I love birthdays and I love celebrating them.  I just don’t understand people who don’t.

The weather on the damp coast is uncharacteristically sunny and warm.  The birds are singing, the neighbours chickens are clucking.

The beautiful weather means that the strawberries, my favourite, are ready 2 weeks early and are beautifully red and sweet.  And I can walk to a new boulangerie in my neighbourhood for a fresh croissant.

Does it get better than this?!?!?  (Cue the happy dance!)

I dreamed my whole house was clean.

Housecleaning

Housecleaning – the necessary evil.

I’ve packed my bags, cleaned the floor,

Now watch me walking, walking out the door.

Eurythmics,  Would I lie to You?

It’s Spring time on the damp coast and inevitably, my mind briefly flits on the idea of spring cleaning the house.  And I do mean briefly.

It is a deranged mind that loves house cleaning.  To be perpetually obsessed about ridding the world of dust bunnies or banishing bathroom mold is a bit sick and twisted. Continue reading

A Mexican Moment

A Glimpse of the Mexican Sun

In the long dark of Winter, we need a bit of sunshine. A Mexican moment.

Although Wiarton Willy said spring will be early this year, it feels like it’s eons away.

So, here are some pictures from my Mexican trip.

It’s a sunny, warm, relaxing Mexican moment for you.

La Conner Pink Sneaker Planters

Road Trip – La Conner, WA

Road Trip Time!

Destination:  La Conner, WA

Day 1

So after the big 51, I decided to get outta dodge.

But where to go? The possibilities were endless but, alas, the funds were not. So it had to be quick and cheap.  There was a trip to Palm Springs for $700 for 5 days but I didn’t really fancy frying in the desert by myself for 5 days.

In the end, it was an overnighter to La Conner, WA.  Why?  I’d never been there and it seemed like a nice quiet place to chill out. Continue reading

50 Lessons Life Taught Me

Regina’s 50 List

Regina Brett of Cleveland, Ohio, once wrote a column for The Plain Dealer called “The 45 Lessons Life Taught me”.

It’s pretty insightful and certainly has helped me put a few things in perspective.  It’s not a 50 – 50 list.  It’s a list of observations that can help make life a little easier to enjoy.

The original list was 45 lessons, but she’s added 5 more for good measure.   Continue reading
